About

Name

By far the most common question people ask me is "What does the name mean?" I suppose that's to be expected, since I chose something rather obscure. However, I wanted the guild's name to reflect the more mature, intelligent member that it caters to. So many guild, including my last one, have cliche'd generic sounding names like "Heroes of Twilight," and while that may sound epic in the head of the guild leader when he makes it up, it ends up looking just like all of the other guilds. I wanted to stay away from that, and instead either do something funny, or something that was cool without being cliche. I settled on the latter.

The actual source of the name is rooted in Greek philosophy. Aristotle believed that each and every living thing, from trees, to dogs, to people, has a specific purpose in this world. Something inherent to its being. Something that it must fulfill in order to achieve its fully potential as an entity. Aristotle called this purpose Entelechy. Since the primary in-character focus of the guild is to bring people who are very different from each other together and unite them under a common cause, I felt the guild name was fitting. Moreso because one of the primary tennants of the guild is that each person is an individual and has the right to be judged as such.

Mission Statement

  • To provide a friendly, relaxed guild, with intelligent and mature participants, for our members.
  • To encourage Role Playing on the Silver Hand US server.
  • To provide an environment where people new to role playing can get their bearings and learn what they want out of RP.
  • To provide an environment where veteran role players can feel comfortable
  • To have fun.

Rules

Some would say it's hard to get yourself in trouble while in Entelechy, some would say it's far too easy. I like to think it depends on whether or not you're an idiot.

One way a member of Entelechy might get in trouble is by consistently typing like a moron. While I have decided to be a bit more lax with this than the guild advertisement implies, I do expect members to make an attempt to spell words like "you" and "are" in their entirety, rather than simply using one letter placeholders. Another way a member of Entelechy might fall out of grace in the guild is by mocking Role Players. I honestly don't care if members of the guild RP--though I prefer that they do, or at least that they refrain from speaking out of character around people who are role playing--but I cannot abide those who make fun of Role Players on a server intended to cater to them.

All that aside, there are no hard and fast rules. So long as a member is kind to those around him, there should be no problems. Everything is taken on a case by case basis, and the officers and I do our best to make sure everyone is happy, and treated fairly.

People and Guilds on Silver Hand US

Caelestis Templares are probably the most hated guild on the server, and I think it's a bum rap. Very few people have ever spoken to a member of CT out of character, it seems, and I must say that I've never met one I didn't like. That said, in character, they're a notorious mob of warmongers who drag innocent people into the streets and murder them for being "heretics" to a faith they don't even follow. If you're looking for a fight, there's a good chance CT will give you one. I would like to point out, however, that participating in the mass OOC harassment of CT's guild meetings is grounds for being kicked from the guild.

Elysium is home to many a fine RPer, and I've yet to meet one that I didn't like. If you're looking for RP, somebody with the word Elysium beneath their name is a good bet. Keep in mind that, as of yet, there is no formal, or even informal relationship between Entelchy and Elysium.

Superior Tech, like Elysium, is a guild that I've had no formal contact with. However, the two guilds are also similar in their numbers of excellent RPers. Among them such names as Ingo, sexiest of all gnomes!

Happy Mushroom Clan is one of the more lighthearted RP guilds around, as is implied by their name. Insofar as I know they have no IC purpose, but if you see one in the street and you're feeling the RP itch, they'll probably help you scratch.

Tily is a member of Caelestis Templares who has had many dealings with Entelechy in the past. If you're looking to have a somewhat civil RP with a Templare, Tily is a fantastic choice.

Raventis is one of the few remaining Highbourne, and former leader of the mighty Zin Dorei. This long-tim associate of Sentai's is something of a wildcard, and with the collapse of her guild it is unknown what her next step would be. Whatever it is, however, it is highly recomended that you address her with respect if you see her in the streets, lest you earn her ire.

Galahaad is a truely knightly paladin, who defended Lady Moreven against the overzealous rambling of an old priest.

Rules doesn't really have any official history with Entelechy...she's just a really good person to RP with if you run into her.

Aranath once answered Sentai's call for a healer after a friend fell from the parapets of Shadowfang Keep. A true paladin if ever there was one.

Altarielle is a vicious persecutor of the Caelestis Templares and their methods--and though Entelechy supported her efforts at first, it soon became clear that her methods were little different from those of the Templares when she ordered her pet to kill a young Templares livestock simply for the crime of wearing the tabard of Senthroth.

Maeleib is a powerful and ambitious young warlock. During the heyday of the Zin Dorei, he was one of Raventis' top people. Since then it is unknown what his plans are, but it seems clear that he intends to continue on the road to power, and the death of any who would cry "Caelestis Gloriam!"

Varthath a Caelestis Templare who, after watching one of his men defeated in a fair duel, stepped in and brutally beat the victor--Lady Moreven of Entelechy.

Sorox the first Templare to make an attempt on Moreven's life when she moved to Stormwind. Sentai helped her escape him, and after months of training, Moreven faced him and demanded a duel. Sorox was defeated.

More to be added as I think of them, or as I encounter them! If an unusual ammount of these seem to be on here because of a relation to myself, that's because you haven't told me about your important IC encounters! Post them on the forum!

Omg it's so swordy
